The Ways to Lose Weight – Part 1

There is no fast way for losing weight. The only reliable and effective way to become slim is to practice a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet. If you already have a weight problem, the best way to lose it is to make positive lifestyle changes. Maybe you can consider these four ways when you want to lose weight. First, you can do to lose weight is to start avoiding foods that are fried. As most people prefer to eat sugary snacks and fast food. However, stop to order fried foods when you eat out and try to reduce to make fried foods at home. Because there are a lot of calories and fat in these foods will undermine your weight loss schedule.

Korean Food

Through a success in Korean dramas, Korean food is extremely popular these years in Taiwan. I also enjoy Korean foods a lot. When people think of Korean food, they might firstly think of kimchi (femented spicy cabbage), which is a tranditional Korean food. Rice and kimchi are the staples of their diet, a table is incomplete without them. Furthermore, such as bibimbap, cold buckwheat noodles, kimchi dumpling and Korean pancake are popular dishes. My favorite Korean food is bibimbap, which is served as a bowl of warm white rice with a variety of vegetables and tastes on top. It is good for your health and yummy. I will definitely travel Korea for tasting the local food in the future.

Shopping

Shopping is an activity that is necessary in our lives. We can go to a big department store, a mall, or an outdoor market to buy what we want. Especially, most women are crazy about an annual sale of department stores, and I am one of them. A department store has different sections where allow you to buy everything. During the annual sale, there will be special discounts and some free gifts offered. Also, you can go to some outlets that sell outdated goods, or even you can go to the stands on roadsides to get some bargaining clothes. Besides these, online shopping is also a convenient way to shop. You can spend less to get the same goods than the market prices most of the time. However, do remember staying calm while you are shopping, otherwise, you might lose control and then spend too much money on shopping.

A Change in My Life

My life has been changed since I decided to return to school and to be a student again at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. About three months ago, I used to watch Korean dramas and used to surf Internet every night before going to sleep. I always enjoy doing nothing much but being relax on weekends. But now, I suddenly feel the weekend approaches soon because I have no enough time to prepare my assignments. On the weekend, I have to get up earlier than the working days, which means no more sleep late. Sadly, I do not have time to watch my favorite television program, and I cannot do whatever I want. However, I must stick to my original plan whatever the difficulties may be.

My Best Friend

My best friend is one of my classmates. Her name is Jessie and we have known each other for many years. I would say she is a very considerate and sensible girl. In school, she can help me a lot when I am puzzled about the difficult homework, and she always replies to my questions patiently. After school, even our lives become very busy, we still make time to contact each other. We are interested in shopping, going to the movie, and traveling. Mostly, we like going to shopping for relieve stress on examinations. She, deserved to be mentioned, has a very kind personality and a sense of sweet humor. She always cheers me up and comforts me when I am upset. It is fun to be with her. I am lucky to know her and hope that our friendship will last forever.

Winter is Approaching

Winter is the coldest season of the year. It has the shortest days and longest nights. I do not like winter because it is bitterly cold, and the sky is often covered with thick clouds. For me, to get up early in the morning is very difficult task especially during the winter as the comforter is warm and the weather is frozen outside, I would like to sleep late in my warm bed. Also, the cold overcast weather makes me wear the scarf tightly around my neck when I leave home. However, deserved to be mentioned, there are two exciting festival during the winter, includes Christmas Day and New Year. Most people look forward to celebrating the holidays. For this, I just want to say, I am not certainly dislike the season.

A Place I Would Like to Visit

Palau, which is the best beautiful tropical paradises in the world. It is rated as one of the world’s best diving destinations. My knowledge of the Palau is derived from the TV show and books I have seen, and I have heard from people who have visited this country. Palau has coral reefs, caves, and walls with the most amazing marine life you can ever imagine. I would like to spend a vacation to visit the tropical paradises. To sum up, Palau is a good place to visit on my summer vacation. I believe that it is definetely a different experience from anything else in the world.

Pet

On September 25, 2008, my pet dog felt sick and died, which had lived for 14 years. I got the bad news from my mother while I was working. I felt sad and cried many days. I love my dog very much, so I am still sad over the death of Dong Dong. He used to follow me around and always waited for me to return from work in the evening. However, I am not used to live without him. If some people ask me whether I would like to raise a dog again or not, I would say no. I do not want to face a sad moment like that anymore.

A Person Who Has Made a Difference: Chien-Ming Wang

Chien-Ming Wang was born on March 31, 1980, and lived in Tainan city, Taiwan. He is a famous Taiwanese starting pitcher for New York Yankees in MLB. Originally, he joined the basketball team when he was in elementary school, but by chance, his instructor encouraged him to play baseball. Wang has represented the Chinese Taipei national baseball teams during his student days, and his excellent performance have come into international notice. On June 5, 2000, Wang was formally contracted by the New York Yankees, to start his difficult and arduous live of a professional baseball player in American. In the beginning, he has even considered to give up halfway, because the problem of injury has always been affecting his performance in pitch. But thanks the support and encouragement by his wife, he changed his mind and continued to strive for his dream. After six years of effort, Wang finally won 19th games in 2006 season. It is the best record in MLB for a pitcher of Asia nationality. Therefore, Wang has been idolized in Taiwan. Because of this popularity, he was named in “The TIME 100” magazine for 2007–2008. Subsequently, it became a great chance for the world to know the Taiwan through Chien-Ming Wang. He is the pride of Taiwan.

A Tour in Korea

I have been to Korea with my good friend in April . This was my first time traveling as a backpacker. We feared that we might not arrive at our hotel smoothly, so we have searched many tour guides about the local transportation before we went to Seoul.

Luckily, everything was going fine for us. We went to the local temple, aquarium and Dongdaemun market in Seoul. Specially, we enjoyed a Jump Show during the trip, which was very funny and interesting. Of course we spent the most of time for shopping.

I also enjoyed Korean food, such as kimchi, bibimbap, and cold buckwheat noodles within these four days. I liked bibimbap the most, which was served as a bowl of warm white rice with a variety of vegetables and tastes on top.

It was a fruitful and joyful tour for me. I will definitely go to Korea once more if there is any chance in the future.

Introducing Myself

My name is Maggie Liao. I was born in Taipei and now live in Xinzhuang. There are five members in my family, including my father, my mother, two older brothers and me.

I have worked as shipping at current trading company for four years. Most of the time, I need to work overtime. Still, I like my job because I have learned much knowledge of international trade from the job content . Moreover, the reason I like my job the most is that my colleagues are very friendly and easy to get along with.

I like to go shopping and seeing movies in my free time. Once a year, I would plan a trip to overseas with my friends in order to reward myself for being hard work.

I am taking the major of Department of Applied Foreign languages at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. I hope that I can improve my English skills in these two years.
