The Effects of Reading Strategy Instruction
I have learned a lot of reading strategies in our English reading class such as Summarizing the gist, Using context clues, Activate prior knowledge, Mind mapping and so on. These strategies are truly useful for me. Especially for using context clues, it is a good way not only to help me to find the meanings out but also to build up my vocabulary. According to previous studying, I usually encountered unfamiliar words when I read, then I unable to continue reading it. It wastes time if I insist to look those words up in the dictionary. But when I learn to use context clues, I may not even need to use a dictionary because I can guess the meaning of unknown words from the context. However, reading can help me to increase vocabulary, pronounce and grammar, so I will choose something to read that I like, it can actually be interesting and enjoyable. For example, I will try to read English-language newspapers on the Internet. Newspapers are interesting because they are real life and the latest news. To sum up, I am able to use more reading strategies to enhance reading enjoyment. They can fully increase my reading efficiency.

How to Reduce Our Own Carbon Footprint
Our personal carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide that we put into the air when we use electricity, drive a car, and heat or cool the house. Individual effort is especially significant. We can make simple changes in daily behavior to reduce our own carbon footprint. First, walk or bike instead of driving a car. Emissions from cars and trucks contribute to the greenhouse effect. Second, doing recycle and use recycled paper, glass and plastic everywhere. Because they use less energy to manufacture than products made from completely new materials.Third, turn off the heat, air conditioning and lights when you leave the house or go to bed. Finally, plant the trees. Trees naturally offset the greenhouse gases. They take in carbon dioxide and turn it into oxygen. To sum up, encouraging more people to do likewise, we can reduce carbon emissions impact on our lives, on environment and on future generations.
